Florida Teen Killed and Six Other Children Injured in Semi-Truck Crash on U.S. 27

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (March 10, 2022) – A teenage boy was killed, and nine people, among them six children, were injured when a tractor-trailer crashed into a car in South Florida, according to a police report.

The fatal crash took place on Tuesday afternoon, March 8, on U.S 27 near Broward and Palm Beach county line in Fort Lauderdale.

Authorities say a car carrying two 31-year-old women, the teen, and six children, was traveling north when it was hit by the truck.

According to FHP, the boy was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was declared dead.

The two women in the car, six children, and a 33-year-old truck driver from Oakland Park were injured in the crash.

Three of the victims sustained serious injuries. According to FHP, the injured passengers were taken to hospitals in both counties.

Sheriff’s officials from Broward and Oakland Park counties responded to the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
