The Passenger was Ejected and Killed after the Pickup Truck Overturned

Daytona Beach, (March 23, 2022) – A man was killed Friday night following a two-car crash on I-4 in Daytona Beach.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the collision happened at 7:45 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2022 on eastbound Interstate 4 at mile marker 131.

The two vehicles collided after a pickup traveling in the center lane tried to move to the left and failed to see a sedan traveling on the left lane hence colliding.

The pickup struck the guardrail after colliding with the sedan and overturned. A male passenger in the truck was ejected in the collision. The passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 21-year-old Palm Coast man drove the pickup truck, while a 40-year-old Daytona Beach man drove the sedan. Both drivers sustained minor injuries in the crash. Police say they were wearing seatbelts.

According to the FHP, three other vehicles later collided as the driver tried to avoid hitting the ejected passenger. Minor Injuries were reported in the second crash.

The accident remains under investigation as Troopers try to identify the dead man.
