Driver, Passenger Die after Nye County Crash on U.S. Highway 95 near Beatty
Nye County, Nevada – Two people were killed Wednesday afternoon in a head-on collision in Nye County, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
At about 1:56 p.m., on March 17, authorities received a report about the accident on U.S. Highway 95 at mile marker 98, just north of Beatty. 
According to the authorities, a Subaru Forester was traveling on U.S. Highway 95 when, for unknown reasons, it veered off the roadway and then re-entered directly into the path of a Ford F-450, belonging to the Nevada Department of Transportation.
Both vehicles eventually collided head-on.
The driver, Scherrie Peterson, 59, of Sacramento, and front passenger of the Subaru, Lopez Preciado, 56, of Truckee, were pronounced dead at the scene.
No further details about the accident were immediately provided.
The crash remains under investigation.
