Seminole County, Florida (July 12, 2023) – A 70-year-old man was killed Wednesday morning after a vehicle ran a red light at an intersection in Seminole County, according to a police report.

The deadly crash took place around 8 a.m. at the intersection of State Route 246 and Via Loma Dive.

According to FHP, a 31-year-old Oviedo man was driving a sedan northbound on Via Loma Drive in the left turn lane. At the same time, a 70-year-old Winter Park man was driving a van westbound on Via Loma Drive in the outside lane. The van driver continued westbound through a green light at the intersection when the Oviedo man tried to make a left turn at a red light.

The sedan crashed into the van, causing it to roll over, authorities say. The Winter Park man sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Oviedo man was not injured in the incident.

No additional information regarding the incident was provided.

An investigation into the fatal collision is underway.
